I was totally sold on this truck when I first saw it but I have to say i am glad that I held off. I have been told by some of my friends that did buy this truck that there is a problem with rust. Thats the whole reason I wanted to get rid of my truck in the first place. Theres not alot you can do about it in snow country but i would like to pay it off before it rusts into a heap.

Great addition to the Toyota line up. The engine really fills the gap that was missing.

The old 4.7 liter was getting old and was WAY underpowered.

I bought some 76 cars/trucks since I got out from the Marines in 1975. I bought at least some 4 to 5 cars a year, and at least one toyota Hilux, Diesel SR5 , 4×4, or Tacoma in my garage at any given time. The hilux i bought in 1972 was $1500, then $2000 then $4000 , then $4700 for along time, then $6900, then $9000, then $12000 then 14000 and then they discontinue the Hi-Lux which is a better truck than the Tacoma. Hilux is stil sold around the world nicely.

Tacoma, became too small and ugly in 2004, then in 2007 they got fat with big wheels and gas mileage dropped from 27 miles per gallon to 18mpg….and the price jumped to $21,000 for an extended cab. Then we got the T-100, I paid $15000 for 3/4 ton truck ,nice and big, but got discontinue and Tundra came out with $45000 price tag and 14 mpg….
What happened to a nice truck like Hilux or T-100 with 4 cylinders and 25 mpg???? and sits 3 comfotably in front…??

Aaah Toyota has lost its way, duped by american MBAs and bullies, the truck got fat and expensive and low mpg.
And toyota US chief was recalled to Japan….

SO TOYOTA, forget the bullies and the MBAs and the beancounters, give people what peole want and could afford.
Dropped the ugly tacoma, get the Hilux in here, with a diesel and put smaller tires and get 28 mpg for the common folks. Price around $15000 and you have a winner…..Thats my opinion after buying 50 toyotas for almot 40 years….

"As much as I love Toyota and would purchase just about any Toyota made vehicle, I have to wonder about the wisdom of producing a gas guzzling truck in this type of economic environment. I have to admit, though, that based on the description of the inside, it sounds more like a luxury car than a truck."

Oh, a luxury car...well, that's all right then. Build away, Saint Toyota the Green. (and you might want to check out a new F150 if you're looking for a nice interior)

They should just concede that they can't do a good truck and walk away. And the Toyotaphiles should just concede that they want to make money like any other company and stop expressing shock when Toyota does something less than warmfuzzygreen.

Would purchase the platinum edition if it was offered in white. Will purchase the standard edition since white is not offered.

Toyota should adding white to their list of colors.

I have always like the look of the Tundra, and the fact that they are making more options available says one of two things. They need the money or they really do not to increase the value for the buyer. I think that Toyota has done a great job of building vehicles that go for longer periods of time with less break down. That is something that needs to be done, they seem to keep the prices at a reasonable price as well.
