Weighing in at just 2,811 lbs., the new 2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder will be the lightest Porsche available – from a company known for lightweight, proficient sports cars. This new mid-engined roadster represents the true, purist form of the sports car – agile, powerful, open and efficient. Porsche Panamera makes Debut in Shanghai

Porsche presented the Panamera to the world public today at the 13th Auto Shanghai. Joining the 911, the Cayenne, and the Boxster/Cayman, this new four-door Gran Turismo is Porsche’s fourth model series, with three variants entering the market in Germany on 12 September 2009. The Panamera is making its debut as an eight-cylinder delivering 400 and, respectively, 500 horsepower and with both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive, a six-cylinder gasoline model and a hybrid version following later.

Through its design and looks alone, the Panamera clearly stands out from the competition at very first sight. New Porsche Cayenne Hybrid Details

Porsche shared more information about its Cayenne S Hybrid, which will debut next year. Using a parallel full hybrid design with the electric motor between the combustion engine and the transmission, Porsche engineers have been able to drive at speeds up to 86 mph without at all using the combustion engine.

This engineering achievement allows the Cayenne S Hybrid to roll freely – or ‘coast’ — at highway speeds without the combustion engine on, greatly minimizing engine emissions and fossil fuel consumption. This differs from current hybrid concepts that deliver benefits mainly in city traffic. Porsche, in cooperation with Volkswagen, opted for the parallel full hybrid design as it also significantly improves acceleration, a concept that matches the company’s philosophy of offering outstanding performance and efficiency. New Sports Exhaust System for the Porsche 911 Carrera and Targa 4

The engineers of Porsche, have developed a new sports exhaust system for the latest generation of the 911, available as an option on new models as of February 2009. This special exhaust gives the customer the opportunity to adjust the 911 to his individual, personal preferences also in the car’s particular sound: At the touch of a button the exhaust system switches over to a sporting and emotional sound generated in particular whenever the driver prefers a truly dynamic style of motoring. You can customize your 911 even further with additional Porsche accessories.

The new sports exhaust system is made of modified stainless-steel main silencers and stands out clearly through its two dual tailpipes in unique design. The heart of the system is the exhaust flap on each main silencer activated by the engine’s electronic control system and switching over to a more sporting sound as soon as the driver activates the sound mode. The system itself is activated by a separate button in the centre console varying the sound of the exhaust as a function of engine load, road speed and engine speed.

Porsche 911 GT3 to Make World Debut in Geneva

Porsche will launch the fastest, most powerful 911 GT3 to-date at the Geneva Motor Show on March 3, 2009. The high performance GT3 is the latest in the new generation 911 series and carries over a wide range of expertise learned from motorsports — resulting is superb capabilities both on road and on track.

The 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 raises the performance bar thanks to an increase in engine size to 3.8 liters and VarioCam technology now on both the intake and exhaust. The naturally aspirated six-cylinder boxer engine develops 435 bhp, 20 bhp more than its predecessor.

The new, larger engine offers a significant increase in torque at medium engine speeds, which is particularly important for everyday driving. Track performance is also improved; the new GT3 accelerates to 60 mph in 4.0 seconds and reaches a top track speed of 194 mph. [...]
