2009 Maserati GranTurismo S Automatic

Maserati will launch a new version of its acclaimed GranTurismo at the Geneva International Motor Show in March with the premiere of the GranTurismo S automatic, which combines to the comfort and convenience of the automatic gearbox from the GranTurismo 4.2 litre with the shattering performance of the GranTurismo S.

Like the GranTurismo S, the new automatic Maserati super coupe is powered by 323 kW 4.7 litre V8 that pumps out 490 Nm of torque, but with a new version of the six speed ZF gearbox that has been praised in the Quattroporte and GranTurismo tailored for its new high performance role. The gearbox has not only been developed to handle the power of the new engine, but has also been provided with features designed to match the driving requirements of this new model. For example, kick down in manual mode has been eliminated to more accurately mimic the characteristics of driving a manual car. [...]

Rolls-Royce To Unveil 200EX At Geneva Motor Show

Rolls Royce 200EX

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars will unveil its latest experimental car, called 200EX, at the Geneva Motor Show on 3 March 2009. The car will be revealed by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars’ Chairman, Ian Robertson, at a press conference at 1.45pm CET. 200EX is a design study for a contemporary four-door saloon and shows the direction for RR4, a new model series from Rolls-Royce due for production in 2010.

Experimental models have always played a significant role in the history of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, from the first – 1EX, built in 1919 – to the most recent – 101EX, built in 2006. Unlike a concept car, the experimental models developed by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars have always been fully functioning vehicles, residing in a tangible world of wood, leather and metals rather than clay and foam. EX cars offer designers and engineers the opportunity for real-world innovation and have been used to showcase new components and engineering techniques as well as exterior and interior designs. Opel To Reveal Ampera Electric Car At Geneva Motor Show

Opel has announced Ampera as the name of its revolutionary extended-range electric car. The five-door, four-seat Opel Ampera will be revealed at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show (March 5-15).

“With the Ampera, Opel will be the first European automobile manufacturer to provide customers several hundred kilometers of non-stop electric driving,” said Alain Visser, GM Europe Chief Marketing Officer.

GM’s ground-breaking electric propulsion technology, called Voltec, operates differently from other advanced propulsion systems. For short trips up to 60 km, the Ampera will run only on lithium-ion battery power charged via a standard 230v outlet. For longer distances, the car will continue to drive on electricity that is generated by a small internal combustion engine. [...]
