Jaguars F Type Plans Revealed

The latest Jaguar F Type has finally been revealed in its full glory at the Paris Motor show. The British car manufacturer has announced that three different models will be on the market, with orders being taken for 2013 delivery.

The first model is a soft top, powered by a 340bhp 3.0-litre V6 engine, with prices starting at £58,500.

The Jaguar F Type S, which is the next model up, will feature a 380bhp version of the same turbocharged V6 engine, with prices starting at £67,500.

The big daddy of the range will feature an extremely powerful V8 S powered by a 495bhp engine, and will sport a slightly different look, with different vents on the bonnet. In may be said that these detract from the overall aesthetic, but the car is still a stunner.

The F type is reminiscent of the Jaguar XK coupe in its design, with an extremely elegant aluminium casted bodyshell. Jaguar’s chief designer, Ian Callum, has created a car that is all about calculated fun, from its deep bucket seating to the incredibly aggressive gearing – 14.6:1 – the fastest ratio to ever be fitted on a road-ready Jag.

The entry level model is bound to be the most popular, with its low price tag, top speed of 161mph and 0-60mph in a staggering 5.1 seconds. If speed is your main concern then spending an extra £20,000 will allow you to reach speeds of 186mph with a 0-60mph of 4.2 seconds.

The F type is fitted with a highly responsive eight-speed automatic transmission box that can be fully controlled by using the paddles behind the steering wheel.

The engineers at Jaguar have put their best efforts into making the F Type as light as possible, using aluminium to construct the shell. Weighing in at 1,579kg, the F Type isn’t exactly the lightest car in the world, but will allow for great handling when paired with the low driving position.

Jaguar has made it clear that they intend to make a mark on the small but valuable market of high performance sports cars. The F Type has been positioned to directly compete with the likes of the new Porsche 911 and Boxster, as well as the Aston Martin Vantage. While it might provide a tamer experience, it could potentially be where Jaguar will make their mark as a high-class, highly comfortable car that is capable of great speeds if desired.

If you are interested in buying an F Type or any other type of sports car, you will be eager to find ways to reduce your car insurance quotes.
