Two New Porsche Panamera Models Hit The Showrooms
Posted on 04. Jun, 2010 by admin.
Starting tomorrow the 2011 Panamera and Panamera 4 featuring the company’s all-new, fuel efficient 300-horsepower V6 engine will begin arriving at Porsche’s nearly 200 dealerships across America.
These new models come just eight months after the successful launch of the V8-powered Panamera S, Panamera 4S and Panamera Turbo. Since then, Porsche has sold more than 4,000 Panamera Gran Turismos to U.S. customers.
The new Panamera models feature an all-new, Porsche-designed 3.6-liter, 90-degree V6 engine with Direct Fuel Injection (DFI) that develops 300 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Built on the same line as the normally aspirated and twin-turbocharged 4.8-liter V8 engines found in the Panamera S, 4S and Turbo, this new engine propels the Panamera and Panamera 4 from 0 to 60 mph in 6.0 and 5.8 seconds, respectively (5.8 and 5.6 seconds with the Sport Chrono Package Plus option). Top test track speeds are 160 and 159 mph, respectively. [...]

Shelby Mustang – Not Your Typical Ford Mustang
Posted on 29. Mar, 2010 by admin.
In 2007 the Ford Motor Company began reproducing one of its most desired models of all time: the Shelby Mustang GT. Prior to this, Ford in partnership with Carroll Shelby had produced modern remakes of the Shelby Mustang GT500 and the 1960s Hertz rental special, the Shelby Mustang GT-H. However, all of these models were produced in limited numbers—the Shelby Mustang GT was the first Shelby Mustang to be widely available to the public and affordably priced.
It is powered by a 4.6 liter V-8 small block which puts out 319 horsepower and 330ft-lb of torque. It also comes standard with a 90 millimeter cold-air intake package and a high flow exhaust system with an X-pipe crossover, further improving the horsepower and throttle response. Adding to the Shelby GT’s off the line acceleration is a 3.55:1 rear axle ratio and a Hurst short throw shifter for models equipped with a manual transmission.
The Shelby Mustang GT also has the styling of the classic Shelby Mustangs of the past. These styling cues include a Shelby hood scoop, and silver race stripes on the hood and side panels. The suspension of the Shelby Mustang GT also received an upgrade over the baseline factory Mustang. A coil spring kit drops the overall height of the car by an inch-and-a-half, giving the GT an aggressive stance to go with its power upgrades. In addition, stiffer dampers, a front sway bar, and high-performance tires further improve the handling and corning of the GT.
A step up from the Shelby Mustang GT is the Shelby Mustang GT500. This is a modern remake of the classic GT500 of the 1960s. Many film fans will remember the Mustang named Eleanor from the 2000 remake of Gone in 60 Seconds, which was a 1967 Shelby Mustang GT500. The modern Shelby Mustang GT500 borrows much of its performance and styling from this classic muscle car.
The new GT500 features a supercharged 5.4 Liter V-8 which produces a massive 540 horsepower and 510 ft-lb of torque. The engine in the GT500 also features dual overhead cams, a rarity for a production street car. Like the baseline GT, the GT500 comes with a cold-air intake and high-flow exhaust system. The Mustang’s styling also adds to its performance—the front air inlets for the radiator and intercooler are sealed and routed, reducing air drag, and the raked spoiler in the rear increases high-speed stability.
With ever increasing concerns about fuel economy and efficiency, many experts in the auto industry have predicted the end of the muscle car for good. But both the Shelby Mustang GT and GT500 prove that the muscle car is still alive and rearing to fight back. This shows that the Ford Mustang will live on forever.

Battle of the Audis: Audi RS5 vs Audi RS4
Posted on 16. Mar, 2010 by admin.
The German-made Audi brand of luxury cars is well known for its power on the road and its distinctive styling. The Audi RS5 and the Audi RS4 are two models that are typical of the performance and beauty standards of Audi. The exterior design, interior design, safety standards, and price are compared to each other in this article. You will be able to decide which model will serve you best.
Exterior Design
We will now compare the exterior design of the Audi RS5 and Audi RS4. The Audi RS4 boasts a sporty exterior that is wider to enhance performance. The front and rear bumpers absorb minor impacts of 5 mph without any major damage. Not only are the bumpers extremely useful but they also complement the exterior body.
The Audi RS5’s unique design has earned the title “Design of the Year” by Automobile Magazine. Its elegant lines make a statement of luxury styling as a classic coupe.
Interior Design
The sporty Audi RS4 with its Alcantara® and silk Nappa leather sport seats with four-way support to the lumbar region, thigh bolsters that extend, and state-of-the-art head restraints. The head restraints protect the head and neck of the front and rear occupants.
The seats are available entirely in Nappa leather or a combination of Alcantara® (a soft, suede-like fabric) and Nappa leather. Contrasting colors are available.
The 8-way adjustable sport seats in the Audi RS5 have 4-way lumbar support for the passenger as well as the driver. They are available in Nappa leather only. The interior of both models is made of the finest materials and handcrafted to perfection to give you a comfortable and luxurious ride.
Safety Standards
The Audi S4 has a number of safety features in place working toward the goal of ultimate safety. Included safety features are six airbags. The driver and passenger are doubly protected with frontal collision airbags and chest-side airbags mounted to the seats. All passengers are protected by overhead airbags that inflate when signaled by a rollover sensor. The S5 is protected by six airbags as well.
The ultra strength steel body resists and high impact bumpers make the Audi S4 one of the safest cars to own. An Occupant Cell is a feature that forms a safe cocoon around the driver and passenger. This steel frame body is also available in the S5.
Both models contain a brake disc wiping system that works to provide excellent braking during wet conditions by creating a pulsing movement in the brakes. This enables the brake discs to stay dryer in wet weather.
The deciding factor in choosing between the Audi S4 and the Audi S5 is the price. The basic price for the Audi S4 is $46,375 while the Audi S5 starts at $52,400.

Dodge Challenger: Forty Years of a Dodge Muscle-car Legend
Posted on 16. Mar, 2010 by admin.
When the Dodge Challenger first entered in the muscle car ranks of Detroit’s Big Three, it arrived with something its competitors didn’t have: the greatest range of powertrain choices in the industry, from the small but durable 225-cubic-inch “Slant Six” to the fearsome “Elephant Motor” — the 426 HEMI. With the best muscle-car powertrains in the business, Dodge Challenger has added, and continues to add, to its rich legacy, creating one of the most storied nameplates in automotive history.
The Dodge Challenger made its debut in the fall of 1969 as a 1970 model. While it shared Chrysler’s “E-body” short-deck, long-hood platform with the third-generation Plymouth Barracuda, Dodge Challenger’s wheelbase was 2 inches longer, creating more interior space. More than 83,000 models of the 1970 Dodge Challenger were sold. [...]
