Toyota Ultimate Motocross Truck at 2011 SEMA

Toyota, DC Shoes and West Coast Customs have teamed up to create the Ultimate Motocross Truck, which will make its debut at the 2011 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Built on a Toyota Tundra full-size pickup, DC Shoes used valuable feedback from their Motocross athletes to help create a truck that had everything a rider needs to make an event trip easier. They took this input and passed it along to West Coast Customs who performed the build.

West Coast Customs used a Tundra Double Cab 4×4 equipped with the powerful 5.7-liter V8 and six-speed electronically-controlled transmission with intelligence. The truck also features Tundras standard bed and is a certified Flex Fuel vehicle. Continue Reading →

Ram Extends 1500 Express Model Availability

The Ram Truck brand today announced that it would expand Ram 1500 Express model availability to include Crew Cab and Quad Cab models, giving buyers an outstanding combination of value and performance among all Ram half-ton configurations.

The Ram 1500 Express previously was available in regular-cab models only. It is aimed squarely at first-time buyers and owners who are seeking a vehicle with performance and style that they can customize and make their own.

2011 Ram Laramie Longhorn Edition Unveiled

2011 Ford F-Series Super Duty Diesel Boosts Power

Ford will begin production this week of the most powerful diesel engine ever installed in a heavy-duty pickup, Barb Samardzich, vice president of powertrain engineering, announced today at an international auto industry conference.

Introduced in April 2010, the 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 turbocharged diesel powering the 2011 Ford F-Series Super Duty will be upgraded to best-in-class 800 lb.-ft. of torque and 400 horsepower, Samardzich said at the Center for Automotive Research’s annual Management Briefing Seminars.

“These numbers are impressive, yes, but that is not why they matter,” Samardzich said. “These numbers matter because our customers say they do. The higher torque means that fleet operators, such as Florida Power & Light, can plow through deep swamps and get to downed power lines faster and more confidently. It means that oil and gas crews in the Northwest can tow up an 8,000-foot grade maintaining a steady speed and using less fuel.” Continue Reading →
