No other item embodies the true Red Blue and White brand of American way of life as a chopper. The supreme masculine ‘I don’t care’ attitude, the power, the pace, the gravity or even the fascinating level of productivity make a chopper the best incarnation of a spot on American identity. So it came as little surprise when a TV show like American Chopper started airing and went on to become an instant favorite.

The show was essentially all about a father-son duo Paul Teutul, senior and junior, who were engaged in the manufacturing of customized bikes and choppers for two wheeler enthusiasts around the country. They had a metal workshop located in New York which was called Orange County Choppers. The reality show which was scheduled to be aired on the Discovery Channel later shifted to the channel’s sister concern called TLC where it has succeeded in surviving for six seasons and 120 episodes. Apart from the fact that the show dealt with the multiple facets of the biking industry and the inside stories behind their manufacturing procedure, the contrasting personas of the father and son with their idiosyncratic behavioral patterns provided with a constant source of entertainment and keep alive the vibrant nature of the show.

After dealing with numerous brands and models of choppers in the show which include the familiar as well as some underground ones, American Choppers in its latest episode is going to feature the much talked about Siemens Smart Chopper. Much of this buzz around the particular model is primarily due to the fact that Siemens Smart Chopper is going to be the first custom electric motorcycle to be made at the Orange County. Since its introduction in the month of August, the Siemens Smart Chopper has been almost on the run taking a trip to the various nooks and corners of the country. In fact, there has also been a large amount of events such as participation in trade shows and in the process have caught attention of a large number of people among the chopper loving population. Thus the news that it’ll be featured on American Choppers has created quite a stir all over the country.

I love watching these guys do the magic at Orange County Choppers. It’s amazing what they can do with bare parts and how they can just manufacture what they need. It’ll be interesting to see how they handle an electric powered motorcycle. Wouldn’t an electric motorcycle be pretty quiet compared to the rumble from a regular bike? I think I’d miss that.
